This is an all day camp. The morning is spent in the classroom with academic instruction. The afternoon will be spent having fun in the sun at Doheny beach. Students will be transported to and from the beach.
Join us as we dive into some key concepts and skills necessary for success in Algebra 1B.
We’ll reinforce operations with fractions, decimals, and factors, learn tricks with multiplication, and practice divisibility rules. Students will have fun with probability by designing some real-world problems involving ratios, proportions, and/or statistics. We’ll use peer collaboration to write and solve algebraic equations and then hone in on graphing skills to explore the difference between linear and non-linear equations.
Students will have the opportunity to apply critical thinking skills to some stimulating Brain-Teasers!
A note regarding the Gear Up Algebra 1B and yearlong Algebra 1B course:
Gear-Up for Algebra 1B: 1 WEEK, NO ACADEMIC CREDIT
This is an introductory class for students who would like to review basic Algebra concepts and then enroll in in Algebra 1B in the fall. There is no homework or assessments in this class and students do not receive any academic credit. This class runs for a total of 5 days, 8:30 – 11:30 am with an option to go to the beach in the afternoon.
