Upper School Academic Classes - SMES STUDENTS ONLY

June 10 - July 26

The Upper School summer program provides flexibility in meeting the individual needs of students as they chart their own unique path through the Upper School.

Upper School Academic Classes - FAQ's

Upper School Academic classes are only for current or incoming (accepted) St. Margaret's students and NOT open to the public. Grade level restrictions are listed in each class descriptions.
Registration opens at 7:00 a.m. on April 18. Registration closes ONE WEEK prior to the start date of each individual class. REGISTER EARLY AS CLASSES WILL SELL OUT.
Yearlong classes begin on June 24 and end on July 26. No class meetings on June 19 and July 4.

Session 1: June 10 - June 21 (no class on June 19)

Session 2: June 24 - July 5 (no class on July 4 but classes meet on July 5)

Session 3: July 15 - July 26

If the class you want is full, you can register for the wait list free of charge. You will be notified by email or phone call if a spot opens. Rest assured that students can fulfill their graduation requirements without taking a summer class.

Upper School summer courses cover a significant amount of course material in a very short time. For that reason, the attendance policy is very strict, and no exceptions will be made

Yearlong Class: Yearlong classes consist of two semester units. Students may only miss one (1) day per semester of the class to receive credit. If a student misses more than one (1) day in either semester or more than two (2) days total, they will not receive credit.

Semester Class: Students may only miss one (1) day of class to received credit. If a student misses more than one day of class, they will not receive credit.

Students may drop a semester-long Upper School class (without academic penalty) anytime during the first two (2) class meetings. Student may drop a year-long Upper School summer class (without academic penalty) anytime during the first five (5) class meetings. Any student who drops a class after this time will receive a W on their transcript and will need to remediate the course.
All science classes (Biology, Chemistry Honors and Physics) have prerequisites. See below for specific prerequisites.
Please contact Denise Karlsen, US Registrar & Director of Scheduling by emailing [email protected]

Please note that when a class reaches full capacity, parents MUST add their child's name to the waitlist. I am not able to add students to the waitlist, this has to be done by parents.

Efforts are being made by the Upper School administrative team to manage the waitlists for classes. The Upper School administration aims to accommodate students on the waitlist, although patience is requested as we navigate various challenges.

Please be assured that every effort is being made to enroll students from the waitlist into the desired class or classes.
